Have you priced out commercial gas masks? They are pretty expensive and just not in the budget for many of us. If you can not afford a gas mas or you find yourself in a real SHTF situation and none our available then there are excellent alternatives to commercial gas masks.
They probably will not provide the same level of protection as their commercial counterparts however these homemade gas masks will protect you from particulates (including tear and CS gas) which is great.
The soda bottle mask you see listed is very inexpensive and simple to make. As in you can whip one together in under 5 minutes. You only need a checklist of a few things:
1. A 2 liter soda bottle
2. Duct tape
3. A n95 face mask
While the n95 masks do not provide a lot of protection from true gasses they provide great protection from all particulates such as tear gas! The image below acts as a great tutorial for you but if you would like more detailed instructions follow the link below to Instructables and follow the tutorial which has a step by step photo process.
