I am a blogger, father, and I can be a geek at times. Self sufficiency is really just a hobby I still have a lot to learn about. I created this blog.... umm. I honestly don't even know why anymore.

Unfortunately if you work in a healthcare setting with patient contact as I do there are no alternatives or options given. You either take it or you compromise your job. I have had the flu shot two years in a row including two weeks ago and have not suffered any detrimental effects. God bless you and keep you well.

Deena, I work in a hospital too. There are alternatives to getting the flu shot and anyone, including your employer telling you different is a liar and liable to law suits. There are waivers for not receiving it and I’ve never come up sick because of working in a higher risk environment.

I am a person who hardly ever gets sick. I used to get a cold every other year on average. Back in 2005 and 2006 I got the flushot on back to back years in the fall. The first year I was very very sick with the flu just a day or two after. I thought this was a coincidence. The following year I was instantly sick after taking the shot. I wont say the flushot is bad for everyone, its just not for me. It made me incredibly sick both times… there is no other possibility. The shot did not agree with my body and it gave me the flu… and it was a nasty bout. I was literally floored for like 4 days.
