US Attack Drone Crashes Into Lake Ontario

During a National Guard training mission a U.S. Military drone crashed into Lake Ontario. Military officials say the MQ-9 Reaper departed from the FT Drum airfield around 1 p.m. on the eastern side of the lake when it was lost. They state the aircraft was not armed. It was flying in approved airspace.

The drone is used by Syracuse’s Air Guard to teach Air Force pilots to use it on surveillance and attack missions. The 174th Attack Wing, U.S. Coast Guard and local authorities are helping Fort Drum to find the downed Reaper.

The cause of the crash will be investigated. Technical and pilot errors have been known to down Drones in the past.

  1. David, thank you so much for sharing this information. RT.com recently reported in mid Nov 2013 “An American drone has malfunctioned and crashed into a guided missile cruiser off the coast of Southern California” – Why are there so many drones flying around our skies?

All these drones makes me want to get a military grade bunker from Rising S! Check out the video tour: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTTPRD1YrnI and the home page http://www.risingscompany.com
